Miscellany Monday



  • My niece Laurence was born last Friday, March 30th 2012, at 3:45 pm. 51 cm, 7.5 pounds, lots of hair! She is so precious! Can't wait to see her this weekend when we go to Montréal! Can't believe my brother is now a daddy! Weird!

  • This weekend, we ate a fabulous dessert! Homemade Crème brûlée! It was HEAVEN!

Voilà!!! Amazing dessert!

  • My thesis has finally been approved by my University! It took longer than expected! I got the mention very good. I have a few corrections to do and I'm good!!!

  • I'm going to Montréal this weekend for Easter and I can't wait to do some serious shopping! I need it!!!

Menu Monday!

We went grocery shopping Sunday afternoon and we got a lot of food! We are good for at least 2 weeks! I'm really looking forward to this week menu because I enjoy those meals!



Menu

Monday: Shrimp satay with thai peanut sauce
Tuesday: Sausage and feta salad
Wednesday: Crock pot salsa chicken
Thursday: Chicken tournedos and red potatoes 
Friday: Pizza and salad
Saturday: Cheese fondue and wine

I Am Hungry!


And our fridge is pretty empty (at least, I have beer haha!!!) There is nothing in the freezer! And no more snacks in our pantry! I hate days like that! When I am hungry, I get cranky!

I definitely need to go to the grocery store tonight to get some good food!

Menu for this week:
Tuesday: Chicken and vegetables
Wednesday: Souvlakis and brown rice
Thursday: Egg salad
Friday: Pita pizza

And I'm looking for new snacks! I'm getting tired of eating chewy bars, yogurt, celery and apples!

Miscellany Monday & Menu Monday!


  • Once again, the weekend was not long enough!
  • Saturday, I baked 2 pies with my mom: an apple pie and a blueberry-almond paste pie (with fresh blueberries that my mom picked out by herself in the woods! In October!) Those pies were SO good!!!
  • I did a big cleaning of the house and it feels so good! I love when things get done! It was a very productive weekend!
  • This weekend, I watched Season 1 of Gilmore girls (2000)! I can't believe it was 11 years ago!!! I have all the DVD and I love watching it! 
  • It looks that this week, we will finally be getting a check from the insurance company for the water damages we had back in May (almost 5 months ago!!!)! Finally!!! It was about time!
  • Saturday morning, I woke up with a big bruise on my left ankle and it still hurts! I don't know how I got that! I can't workout for a couple of days because my shoe hurt my bruise!!! I want to work out so bad because I have not worked out in the past week!!!

Menu Monday
This week is a short week because we are heading to Montréal on Friday for the long weekend!

Monday: Chili con carne
Tuesday: Partridge meat, brown rice and veggies
Wednesday: Macaroni and roasted brocoli
Thursday: Pizza and cucumber salad

I have already cooked the chili and the macaroni yesterday, so two dinners are ready for this week! I don't have to worry about getting those dinners done! The boyfriend will be cooking the partridge meat and the pizza is a frozen pizza!

Hello, Fall!

Fall is my favorite season of the year, always been! And here, it's already pretty fallish!!! It's like 10C outside! Adios Summer! (Summer are pretty short here!)

I love the clothes I get to wear during fallish time, the weather, the nature, to see the leaves change of color, pumpkin candles, spice latté, fall wreathes! I can't wait to do a little Fall decor around our place!

Another thing I love when September comes is cooking muffins or pumpkin breads!!! This is what I have done two days ago and my little pumpkin breads turned so yummy!

What's Cooking in my Kitchen?

Last night, I cooked a fantastic dinner! It was so good!

The menu: 
-Roasted potatoes with olive oil and Herbes de Provence
-Pork chops on the BBQ with an apple sauce 
(I used the BBQ all by myself for the first time haha!)
-Amazing homemade brownies!!!

My mother came over to our house 2 days ago to bring us some beautiful flowers for our backyard! Thanks mom!!!

Healthy Habits Wednesday!

I have not done Healthy Habits Wednesday in a while!

In the past week, my workouts have been really good! I think I got back into the swing of things! Yay for me!

Workouts

Wednesday: 30 Day Shred (Level 3) 25 minutes + 10 km bike ride
Thursday: 30 Day Shred (Level 3) 25 minutes + 3 km walk
Friday: 30 Day Shred (Level 3) 25 minutes + 8 km bike ride
Saturday: 20 km bike ride + 3 km walk
Sunday: 30 Day Shred (Level 3) 25 minutes + 20 km bike ride
Monday: Rest Day
Tuesday: 16 km bike ride

Total km: 80 km (50 miles)

Not bad at all, right?!?!

Food

Maybe because it's summer, I have been struggling a lot with sugar cravings in the past days! I'm craving for dessert every day! Pie, cake, ice cream, cookies, anything! (We don't  keep any dessert in the pantry to avoid temptations!) I baked a Tiramisu cake last Thursday for my father-in-law's birthday and it was insanely good! But I'm still sugar craving!

In general, I'm sticking to fruits and homemade smoothies but it's so hard! This weekend, we went to McDonald's twice to get milkshakes because I wanted one so bad! I think it's alright but if I could, I would get one every day haha!

Weight Loss

I have to make a terrible confession: I don't have a scale at home, I've never had one. I don't weight myself often. When I want to know my weight, I go to my parents house (5 minutes away!) to use their scale haha! We should definitely get one!  
Do you have any favorite brand or kind in mind?

Well, I was at my parents 2 days ago and I can tell you that I lost 3 pounds (in 2 weeks)! I'm happy with that number and I honestly don't think I could have done better!

Weekend Recap!

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a great time!

On Friday afternoon, after lunch, the boyfriend and I went for a car ride outside the town! We love to do that! On our way, we stopped by McDonalds to get a chocolate milkshake for me and a vanilla milkshake for him! I just love milkshakes!

After our car ride, we went to a vehicle dealership to have a look at the new Sonata Hyundai. My boyfriend is thinking about buying that car and we are going back tonight for a test drive!

For dinner, we went at a friend house for a BBQ and it was great to see friends I have not seen in almost 2 months!

On Saturday, we did some cleaning around the house. The ceramic floor in the kitchen is finally done but there was dust everywhere! (The basement is still not finished!) After that, we went to the grocery store to get some food for our dinner. We made indian food and for dessert, I baked a fantastic lemon pie that looked just like that:

It was sooooo good!!! It was made with real lemon juice, eagle brand milk, eggs and graham cookies and it was so easy to do!

On Sunday, we went to the store to get a gift for B's step-father. We didn't know what to buy and we decided to get him a Tim Hortons gift certificate (it's like a Starbucks) because he has breakfast every morning there!

After that, we went for a walk on the beach. We live pretty close to 3 beaches (about 15 minutes away). That was a beautiful sunny day, about 23 Celcius degrees (about 73 F) with a little wind (as always). I live in North Québec and the summers are not that hot here, that was the hottest day of the summer so far ha!

After our walk on the beach, we went back home and we had dinner in our backyard and we had a jacuzzi night after that! 

It was a great weekend and I was so happy to share those moments with B!

Healthy Habits Wednesday!

Kelly @ brown eyed girl does a post called Healthy Habits Wednesday almost every week and I'm joining her this week!

For the past week, my workouts have been:

Wednesday: 30 Day Shred (Level 2) 25 minutes + 3 km walk
Thursday: 30 Day Shred (Level 2) 25 minutes +  6 km run outside
Friday: 30 Day Shred (Level 2) 25 minutes
Saturday: 30 Day Shred (Level 2) 25 minutes + 2 km walk
Sunday: 3 km walk (with the boyfriend)
Monday: 30 Day Shred (Level 2) 25 minutes 
Tuesday: 30 Day Shred (Level 2) 25 minutes + 5 km run outside

Meals
Every Monday, I do a weekly menu and I usually stick to it! This is great for our wallet and to save time! Planning meals is the key! If I didn't plan our meals, we would always be to the grocery store to shop! And to spend more money!

I usually get really hungry in the afternoons... And my new favorite thing to have as an afternoon snack is homemade smoothies!
I mix vanilla yogurt, a banana, frozen fruits (strawberries or peaches), some milk et voilà! It is delicious and keeps me away from being hungry! I drink maybe 4-5 smoothies per week.

For breakfast, I recently discovered Kashi cereals:


Those cereals are so good with a sliced banana or sliced strawberries and it makes my belly full!!! And it is full of  proteins! Perfect for me!
