Fall and Halloween craft projects!

I did some craft projects for Fall and Halloween in the past few days! What a fun activity! I love it!

Here some pictures of my work:

  • A fall wreath
I bought everything to make it from Dollarama, so it was not an expansive project at all! And so fun to do!

  • A golden pumpkin

  • Stars pumpkin

It took me a long time to make all those stars! After that, I painted the interior of the stars with gold paint! I think it looks beautiful when the DEL candles in it are on at night!

I can't wait to do some Christmas craft projects! But not before November 20th, I think that about one month before Christmas is the perfect time to do so!

Happy Halloween!

Yesterday night, it was our annual Halloween party! Each year, my boyfriend's friends organize a big party. (Some people  from across the province travel hours to attend that event! ) They really know how to party, each year is different! This year, it was at a friend's house, a 30 minutes drive away from home. Almost everybody (about 60 people) was getting there by bus (we rent a yellow school bus for the occasion!!) so there would be no drinking and driving! The house was well decorated and there was good food and good music! Everybody was wearing costumes, some were really special!!! We had fun! At 11h00, we left the house in the yellow bus to go to the bar where we had VIP passes , VIP seats and free alcohol!!! We danced a lot and we came back home at 3h00am by taxi! It was really cold outside, about -1 °C! During the evening, I had some rhum n coke, but I didn't drink that much because I hate feeling or being sick the next morning! My boyfriend's friends slept over and one of them was sick during the night on the bedroom floor (eurk!)!!! Who cleaned that mess? His girlfriend! This morning, he had to get up early to drive back to our hometown! He was not feeling well, poor him!

It was a great night, so much fun!

I dressed up as a devil! (I bought that black dress a year ago and I didn't wear it until now!) That was an easy costume to make! :) As a child, my mom used to make me great costumes but I don't have that kind of patience! And because my birthday is 3 days after Halloween, I often had the Halloween theme party! But I loved it!

Workout!

I love to workout. I normally exercise 4 days/week. But my gym is far from home! I got there by bus, a 25 ride bus to go and to come back, it can take 40 minutes (because the bus stops somewhere.)! So, it takes me about 1:05 hour each time I want to go to the gym!  So, when I go to the gym, I know I have to workout well to make the travel worth it!

Here's what I normally do on a gym session:

  • Elliptical machine: 25 minutes
  •  Step machine: 45 minutes
  •  Stationary bicycle: 15 minutes
  •  Musculation: 15 minutes
 --> Total = 100 minutes

After that, I'm exhausted and I'm proud of myself!

I have not been in the gym for a week now and I miss it! I will go back to my routine tonight, after a quick dinner!

Away for the Week-End!

I'm going out of town for 4 days! I can't wait! We are leaving tomorrow morning around 6h30 and we will be home by 3h00 pm!!! We are going to my mother-in-law retirement party! She turned 55 years old a couple days ago and she officially retires tomorrow! I'm glad for her, she deserves it so much! She worked so hard to raise her 2 kids by herself (her husband died when my boyfriend and her sister were very young!) So, Friday night will be her night! Saturday, I'm going to hang out with some friends I have not seen in ages! We will probably have a big dinner together! It will be fun to be in my hometown for a couple of days!

Have a nice week-end everyone! (I sure will!!!)
Enjoy!!!

    Gilmore Girls!

I am a big fan of Gilmore Girls, I own all the DVD serie and I watch some episodes every week. I began to watch that show (translated in French) in 2001, when I was 17. But after 2 seasons, I decided to watch it in English¸instead, because each season translated was on TV one year later than the original! I wanted so bad to know what was happening to Rory, Lorelai, Dean, Jess, Luke, Lane, Sookie, Emily, Richard, etc!  Gilmore Girls has made me laugh, cry, scream! It proves that this TV show was able to get to people, to touch their feelings deeply!

I was so sad when the serie ended in May 2007!!! I was hoping for an 8th season!  And a 9th! And a 10th! Prior to the last episode, Rory graduated from college and so did I in May 2007! I felt like a chapter in my life was closing with my own graduation and the serie ending! Weird feeling!

In the past, I have heard and read about the possibility of a Gilmore Girls movie, but I doubt it will happen after 3 years and a half! But I would LOVE to see Rory and Lorelai again on screen, they were just so great together! I wish I had that relationship with my mother! Not that I have a bad relationship with her, but I mean a relationship like two friends have together! I also want to see Lorelai and Luke together again, they were meant for each other! What a love story!!!

Are you a fan of Gilmore Girls? Do you have a favorite episode or season?

    Thanksgiving Week-End in Québec

It's Thanksgiving week-end here and I'm going out of town! It's my uncle's wedding tonight, so it's going to be a big family reunion, it will be fun to see some people I have not seen in years! I will wear a satin purple dress and gorgeous black pumps that I bought about 6 months ago and that I have not wear yet! Saturday, we will probably see my mom's family and have a big dinner with them. My 4 grandparents are still alive (in their 80's!), so I feel that it's important to see them sometimes, and I don't get often that chance!

    Have a great week-end!

    Sephora: Je t'aime!

Sephora opened a store in my city about 2 years ago. I knew Sephora by name, but I had never try on their products. After trying some make-up, I felt in love with Sephora products! Sephora is like candyland for me! So, when I go in, I want to buy everything!!! (Not good for my wallet!)

    Some of my favorite products:

1- Mineral Foundation Compact (D30 warm beige)
It really covers the imperfections and it looks very natural! There is a lot of colors for different skin tones.

    2- Correcting Smoothing Primer

You put this primer before the foundation to smooth your skin and the green color helps to cover redness!
I love it, because sometimes I got some redness I want to cover!

3- Ultra-Shine Lip Gloss (Silver Raspberry 07 - not the one in the picture)
It makes great lips! I just want to eat it because it tastes good on your lips!

4- Professional Mineral Powder Brush #45
This 26$ brush is a good investment! This brush is great, I really can see a difference between this and another one at 10$! The mineral foundation is easier to put on with that and the result is more natural.

Shopping at Sephora can be expensive, I know that! (Trust me!) But I think their products worth it. However, I don't exclusively shop at Sephora, I go to drugstores or Wal-Mart also! (I use a 8$ Rimmel Mascara and I'm really happy with it!) The important thing is to find the products that you like the most and that work for you!

Where do you shop when you need make-up or beauty products?
Do you think the prices of Sephora products worth it?

    Student life

For the past 6 years, I've been in college. 6 years! That's a lot of time! In 6 years: 4 different appartments, 3 different roomates. A long distance relationship. Learning to be away from home, to cook, to live on my own.
A lot of stress, but a lot of fun time too! People who say that  the student's years are the best of their lives are absolutely right: I love being a student, I love this life! But I know there is an end to this, it has to! (Because money is an issue in our world!!!)

    A Little Recapitulation
I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor Degree in French Canadian Literature. (Université Laval) I'm actually pursuing a Master Degree in Literature. That's a lot of work. I had to take 30 credits (5 classes of 6 credits each). The classes were hard and I had a lot of written work to submit, a lot of deadlines. I took those classes for the 2 first years of my master's.

Since last year, I'm done with those classes and I have to get my thesis done! My thesis is my final dissertation. My subject is not that hard, but a lot of things need to be developed.  For this dissertation, I have read maybe like 100 references books (about literary theories)!!! I had to make a detailed draft and it took me a long time to get those readings and that draft done!

In one year, I have written about 70 pages (2 chapters out of 3). I still have to write Chapter 3 (about 35 pages), Introduction (8-10 pages) and Conclusion (8-10 pages), made some corrections to Chapters 1 and 2, be evaluated by 3 eminent teachers and I will be done! It's a stressful time for me, because I have to get all that done before Christmas, I just have to!!!

These days, I just miss being a under graduate student, it was much more easier and less stressful!
I'm also afraid of the real life because I'm not sure what's next for me!!! I'm a planner and I don't like being in the dark like this! I find myself torn between the student life and the real life.

Some things are really hard for me to express in English, I just feel that my thoughts in French would be 100 times better that what I just wrote! I have basically to think in French and translate everything in my head before typing anything!

    25 things about Café Moka

First message! (Original title, don't you think?!?!)

I've been reading a lot of blogs for the past two years... And I have finally decided to create my own!
I want to share some parts oy my life (broken student life may I add!) and I want to share that in English!!! I'm from Québec (Canada) so, French is my first language and I think that writing in English will help me improving my skills! I watch a lot of movies and DVD in English, but I don't get the chance to speak or to write a lot! So, this blog will be a good exercise for me! (So, there will be some grammar and spelling mistakes, be indulgent!)

The title of my blog « Les mots ne mentent pas » is in French and it means something like that: « Words don't lie ». In fact, it's a line from Paul Eluard's poem  La terre est bleue comme une orange, a surrealist poem that I just love! Literature is my passion!

    About me
I live in Québec city, national capital of Québec. I moved here about 6 years ago for college and I'm still in college, trying to finish my Master Degree in Literature! (I will talk about that later!) I originally come from a little town in the east of Québec (an 8.5 hour drive!). My parents still live there but I don't get to see them often. I like my hometown, but my home is now here, in Québec city!

I just love my city, it's so beautiful!

    http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/North_America/Canada/Central/Quebec/Quebec/photo221290.htm
As you can see, American readers, Québec is not too far from USA!

I moved with B. my boyfriend of 8 years(!!!) past June! Moving together was a big step but we were definitely ready for that! I just love being with him and having dinner with him (almost) every night! We live in a nice appartment and I can't wait to decorate it! (We didn't paint any walls when we moved here because B. is actually job hunting and we don't know if we are going to stay here long! I hope he finds a job soon!)

I love my life and I'm grateful for what I have!

It's weird to write a long text in English, I feel like I'm writing a dissertation for school!!! In fact, it reminds me of High School English class haha!!! I have to get use to, I think!

    See ya!
